Development of the Austrian Land Information System

The overall aim of the Land Information System Austria is to provide current and detailed geospatial information of the status and development of land cover and land use in Austria to public authorities and the private sector.

The Austrian Land Information System has been developed in four separate stages. LISA-1 (2009-2010) developed the LISA data model and produced prototypes of land cover and land use maps for a few dozen test sites. LISA-2 (2010-2012) developed concepts for the detection of land cover changes and demonstrated its application for example in upscaling it to CORINE Land Cover. CadasterENV Austria (2012-2015) produced a highly precise land cover map for urban areas of Austria using Pléiades satellite images. CadasterENV (2015-2017) produced an Austrian wide land cover map using the novel Sentinel satellite images.

Our tasks
  • Conception of the initial LISA data modeling
  • Extension of the model to record temporal information
  • Extension of the model to populate remote sensing indices
  • Physical database implementation
  • Geoportal implementation
  • Development of a mobile app for validation
